Machine Translation

Machine Translation is the process of using computer software to translate text from one language to another, without any human intervention.

The concept of perfect machine translation has been a goal of computer science since the early days of computing. Early test results were promising, and ever since the 1950s, human-level machine translation has seemed to be just around the corner. Recently, machine translation researchers have used statistical-based natural language processing to augment the process, and have made some significant advances.

That being said, machine translation is still not equivalent to human translation. In the Lingotek software, we use machine translation as a tool for augmenting the translation process.
