Spell Checking in LingoDex

High-quality spell checkers are currently available for both of the Internet browsers supported by Lingotek, so we have chosen to discontinue our LingoDex spell checker. Instructions for using browser-based spell checkers is included below

Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer users will need to download and install the Google Toolbar, which includes a multilingual spell checker.

  1. Go to http://toolbar.google.com.
  2. Download and install the Google Toolbar
  3. When complete, the top of your browser window should look like this
  4. Open LingoDex
  5. Click File >> Enable Toolbars
  6. Then close and reopen LingoDex. The Google toolbar should now be at the top of the browser window.
  7. Select the correct language by clicking the down arrow next to the spell check button
  8. When you want to spell check a segment, simply click the "ABC Check" button on the Google toolbar.

Firefox

Firefox includes an inline spellchecker by default, which will check the target pane automatically.

  1. Dictionaries can be added to the browser by going to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:3.
  2. Once the dictionary is installed, open Lingodex
  3. Right-click anywhere in the target pane and make sure that "Spell Check this field" is selected.
  4. Right-click again, and choose the appropriate language.

Use Source Text

Clicking this icon will paste the text from the current source into the target pane. Use this for segments that don't need to be translated, like proper nouns, etc.

Version Reference

The version reference provides information about which step of the translation process you are in. Each step is listed in the drop down, with an orange arrow next to the current step.

Saving to TM

The Save to TM drop down allows you to choose whether or not to save your translation to the TM Vault. If it is turned on, then your translation segments will be stored in our index, for use in search results. If this setting is turned off, then your translations will be saved to the document, but not to the TM Vault.
