We are happy to announce that version 6.12 of the Lingotek Collaborative Translation Platform™ was released on Wednesday, December 7, 2011. Here are some notable changes for this release.

Formatting Enhancements

New Formatting Tool

• The user interface for applying inline format tags has been drastically improved, providing increased accuracy and greater ease of use
• To help aid in the application of formatting, the most common inline format tags are now rendered during the format phase for web content (.html) and office files (.doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx, .odt, .ods, .odp and .rtf)
• As tags are applied, the target segment is rendered to represent the applied formatting, making it easy to identify and correct mistakes
• Format tag markup can be optionally shown inline to help provide context when applying inline format tags

Other Platform Changes

Translate .idml and .xlsx files

• Roundtrip translation is now supported for Adobe InDesign (.idml) and Microsoft Excel 2007 (.xlsx) files; the import and export of already-supported office files have also been improved
• It's now easier to assign jobs to translators -- search translators by name, language skills, area of expertise, services offered, maximum rate per word and years of experience; you can also now assign phases to any translator within your community without having to first add them to your list of contacts
• You can now see and manage translator job assignments from within the Contacts page; adding translators to your contacts list is easier than ever with the ability to search community translators and set search criteria in addition to just language skills
• The management of glossaries can now be made shareable with other contacts; glossaries can also be shared within the community or made generally public to all communities

Bug Fixes

• PowerPoint files can now be uploaded using our new import process
• Improved uploading and moving of TMs inside of TM vaults
• Improved error handling when navigating between segments in the New Workbench
• Profile notification settings on the Profile page are saved successfully

Announcements

API Version Support: In conjunction with today's release of version 4 of the Lingotek API, support for version 2 of the API is ending. Version 3 of the API will continue to be supported.

Google MT Temporarily Discontinued: Effective December 1, Google officially discontinued the free version of its Google Translate API. As a result, the Google machine translation service is no longer available within Lingotek. Google has moved to a paid version of its Google Translate API, which we are actively working to integrate with so that we can restore the Google MT service in the near future.
